iBook G4/1.0 14-inch (Late 2003) "Ghost"

I have continued to buy old PowerPC Apple laptops after getting my G3 iBook up and running fully. This one is intended to be a far more OS X focused machine for running games like Halo: Combat Evolved and other OS X comatible games for later PowerPC MacOS machines. I have already purchased a battery for this one, as the 12" batteries I have for my G3 will not work in the larger 14" G4, and I also need to plan getting a new or parts keyboard due to a missng F12/Eject key.

Update: After exhibiting some incredibly cursed behavior, the hard drive has died, rendering this machine inoperable for the present time. I will have to swap the 60GB HDD from my PowerBook G4 into it when I get the solid state storage upgrade in.

Update II, June 9th, 2023: So I tried the 40GB hard drive from the iBook in the Powerbook and it boots just fine in there. So I take it out of the powerbook and take the time to put it back in the iBook, and the cursed behevior seems to have entirely disappeared somehow. I decided to take the F12 key off of the PowerBook's keyboard, since it's being replaced anyways, so now I have a silver F12 key on my white Powerbook. It's an accent, like one of those fancy novelty escape keys on an expensive mechanical keyboard... or a gold tooth. This makes it my most powerful, and only, fully working G4 computer. Maybe until the day I get a desktop, anyways.

Update III, June 23rd, 2023: So as it turns out, the 12" battery does work in the 14" laptop, it just looks atrocious. That's a good thing, because of the two 14" batteries I have, the best one lasts an hour, and the worst one doesn't work at all. In good news, I did design a 3D printable adapter that can be used to put the smaller battery in the larger aptop. The bad news is that I don't have a 3D printer, so until I have the liquidity to get one made, I will just be relying on... tape.

Update IV, March 4th, 2024: I no longer have this laptop, I gifted it to my partner! I mailed it to her after upgrading it to the maximum RAM capacity, adding an AirPort Extreme wireless card, and replacing the original 40GB hard drive with an SD card adapter on an IDE adapter. I love you, Puppy, I hope you have fun with it <3
